American singer Rihanna is the latest to become embroiled in a nude photo scandal with images of the star leaked on the internet. Of the photos, only two show the singer's face. The others reveal her naked body and backside but her face is hidden from view. The photos were reportedly taken at The London West Hollywood hotel, where Rihanna once stayed with her former boyfriend Chris Brown. Some are floating the rumor that Chris Brown leaked the Rihanna nude photos that hit the net the other day. The theory is sparked by one of the photos which features a message written by Rihanna on a hotel room mirror. Brown, through his spokesperson, has denied leaking the photos.
Vybz Kartel and his three co-defendants were found guilty of murder in the Home Circuit court today, Thursday, March 13, 2014. Adidja "Vybz Kartel" Palmer was charged jointly with fellow entertainer Shawn "Shawn Storm" Campbell, Kahira Jones, Shane Williams and André St John for the murder of Clive "Lizard" Williams . Of the four co-defendants only Shane Williams was found not guilty. Lead attorney for Vybz Kartel, Tom Tavares-Finson stated that while the defence team accepted the ruling of the jury, they plan to appeal the guilty verdict against his client.
Legendary reggae artiste Tony Brevett from the Melodians died Saturday in Miami from complications during his cancer fight. Trevor McNaughton and Tony Brevett were on a U.S. tour commemorating The Melodians' 50th anniversary before Brevett fell ill. The Melodians were best known for their hit, "The Rivers of Babylon." The song was included in the soundtrack of the 1972 movie "The Harder They Come."

Sean Paul won his third Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Award on Saturday October 19, 2013, winning the Best Reggae Act category ahead of Mavado, Tarrus Riley, Popcaan and Stylo G. Sean Paul was not present at the ceremony which was held in Glasgow, Scotland. The MOBO Awards established in 1996 is held annually in the United Kingdom to recognize artists of any ethnicity or nationality performing black music.
Jamaica police have charged the deputy mayor Michael Troupe of Montego Bay with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition as part of an investigation into a lottery scam targeting elderly Americans. Police said Friday that 51-year-old Michael Troupe and his 21-year-old son Jevaughn Troupe both face the same charges. Both were among four suspects arrested during an early-morning raid as police investigate a lottery scam that generates about $300 million a year. Authorities so far have detained 142 people in connection with the scam, but only 19 have been charged so far.

(AP) United States Sprinter Tyson Gay failed more than one drug test this year, recording one of his positives at the US championships in June, where he won the 100 and 200 metres,The Associated Press learned on Friday. Earlier this month, Gay revealed he had tested positive in an out-of-competition test he took May 16. Three people familiar with the case told the AP that Gay had multiple positives this year. One of those people said one positive came at nationals and the US Anti-Doping Agency has notified him of that result. The people did not want their names used because the doping case against Gay is ongoing and the details have not been made public. Bank of Jamaica Governor Brian Wynter says the Jamaican dollar is no longer overvalued and is now less susceptible to unpredictable slippage, following recommendations by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for its continued devaluation to maintain competitiveness. The statement, which was yesterday released by the bank under the September quarter review, also indicated a two percentage point decline in the country’s inflation rate quarter over quarter — from 3.8% to 1.8% continuing on its 40-year-low trend. The former lieutenant of Tivoli Gardens don Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke, Harry McLeod, was yesterday acquitted of several criminal charges as the prosecution was unable to sustain a case against him. Harry "Harry Dog" McLeod was acquitted of charges of larceny, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, and forgery when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court in Jamaica. He was acquitted after the prosecution said it was unable to move forward with a case against him, prompting the court to order the return of his vehicle. In an effort to expand on her brand and celebrity status, Jamaican dancehall artiste Tifa has ventured into merchandising with the release of her signature headphone line. The project is a partnership with Sound is Genious (SIG) and is called the Tifa SIG line. The headphones is reasonably priced starting as low as $2500 each. She also released a Bluetooth headset and a travel friendly sound box. The headphones will be distributed in select Digicel stores and electronic stores.

Riu Hotels and Resorts has officially relaunched its Riu Ocho Rios all-inclusive resort, the company announced this week. The property, which first opened in 2005, has undergone a dramatic refurbishing project, one that included what Riu called a “complete overhaul of its facilities.” Riu has added what has become a staple of many of its resorts in the Caribbean, a new Splash Water World aquatic park. The reimagined poolscape means Riu Ocho Rios now boasts five pools at the property, including two pools with swim-up bars. Jamaica Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller on Tuesday called for more measures to combat a mosquito-borne Chikungunya virus. Describing the outbreak of Chikungunya Virus since July this year in Jamaica a "national emergency", Simpson-Miller during her meeting with parliamentarians called for mobilizing resources to control and prevent the spread of the epidemic. The epidemic has spread to almost every corner of the country, resulting in temporary closing of some schools and factories in the past three month. A major clean-up campaign will be started from the worst-affected areas to destroy mosquito breeding sites, she said, with some 500 million Jamaican dollars (4.46 million U.S. dollars) being allocated.
