Jamaica (AP) — Jamaica has repatriated 62 Haitian migrants, including three
men authorities say escaped from prison after January's devastating earthquake.
Police Inspector Steve Brown said Tuesday the group left for the Haitian capital
of Port-au-Prince aboard a Jamaican Defense Force boat.

Authorities did not say what crimes the men had allegedly committed.

The group of 48 men, eight women and six children arrived in two overloaded boats
last week. They were towed ashore by local fishermen.

(AP) Jamaica's prime minister has asked local justice officials to review a U.S.
request to extradite a man Washington says is one of the world's most
dangerous drug kingpins.

Prime Minister Bruce Golding said he believes the U.S. violated an extradition
treaty, alleging its agents used illegal wiretaps in the arms- and drug-trafficking

AIR Jamaica could be forced to shut down prematurely, leaving a major gap
in air seats to the island, if the United States Department of Transportation
(DOT) turns down an urgent request the national airline was making.

The founder of Shower Posse has died of illnesses at a Jamaica hospital,
a year after returning to his native island following a prison term in the
United States.

Vivian Blake, 53, died Sunday at University Hospital of the West Indies,
where he had been admitted a day earlier after suffering a heart attack,
according to attorney George Soutar. The lawyer said Blake also had kidney
disease and had been receiving dialysis treatment.
