The Downtown Owners and Merchants Association (DOMA) has called on local importers and customs brokers in to temporarily suspend the use of shipping lines that use the Port of Kingston in Jamaica for trans-shipment of containers and other freight in which contraband or illegal items can be smuggled into Trinidad and Tobago.

Investigators from the police's Anti-Corruption Branch are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Julian Jones Griffiths, the manager of dancehall artiste David "Mavado" Brooks. The police say Mr. Griffiths is needed in a case currently before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court in St. James.

ONeil Elephant Man Bryan is scheduled to return Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on November 30 for the start of his trial on a charge of stealing electricity.

A 5.8 magnitude earthquake centered northwest of Richmond, Va., shook much of Washington, D.C., and was felt as far north as Rhode Island and New York City.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake was 3.7 miles deep. Shaking was felt at the White House and all over the East Coast, as far south as Chapel Hill, N.C. Parts of the Pentagon, White House and Capitol were evacuated. The quake was in Mineral, Va., in Louisa County.
