Christopher Selby, 30, a prison escapee from Trinidad and Tobago, surrendered to authorities on Sunday night. He is currently being held at Barataria Police Station in Barataria, Trinidad.

Selby’s surrender was to the Criminal Gang Intelligence unit. He was one of the prison escapees involved in a violent jailbreak that occurred on Friday. Three men escaped from a prison in the country’s capital city, Port-of-Spain.

(AP) Police in Jamaica say a U.S. tourist has been charged with illegal possession of ammunition after customs officials at an island airport allegedly found a bullet in her handbag.

A Monday police statement says the American woman was about to board a flight when she was stopped by security at Sangster International Airport in the northern tourist town of Montego Bay.

Police took her into custody and charged her with a breach of the island's firearms act after authorities say they found a 9-mm bullet in her bag.

Wayne Price was a member Bounty Killer’s entourage traveling to St Kitts for a concert. The group was about to board a flight back to Jamaica on Sunday when the artiste brother was being checked out by a custom agent, who left her phone on the counter.

The agent then realized that her phone was missing after Price left the counter. She raised an alarm and airport security checked video surveillance footage and saw Price taking up the phone. When they search him for the device he had already removed the SIM card and battery from the device.

Jamaica's justice minister has signed an order to expunge some marijuana-related convictions now that the island has partially decriminalized small amounts of pot. Justice Minister Mark Golding stated that he had signed an order to provide a path for people to get their criminal records purged if they have minor convictions for smoking or possessing marijuana.

In April, drug law amendments went into effect that partially decriminalized small amounts of pot and paved the way for a lawful medical marijuana sector in Jamaica.

Jamaica's only electricity provider says crews have pulled down nearly 10,000 illegal connections to the power grid and police have arrested over 300 people for theft so far this year. In a statement issued, the Jamaica Public Service Co. says it is "relentlessly pursuing" electricity thieves in neighborhoods where a tangle of illegal wires can often be seen tapping into power lines.

Jamaica's government has a 20 percent stake in the electricity distributor JPS, where power theft has long been rampant and overlooked for years on the island.

Approximately 1,000 Chinese tourists have disembarked from a cruise ship in a Jamaican resort town in a groundbreaking visit.

The Chinese tourists arrived Wednesday in the northern town of Ocho Rios aboard the 12-deck cruise ship Costa Atlantica. Jamaica’s tourism ministry says the group is on an 86-day cruise that began in Shanghai on March 1. It says Jamaica is the ship’s only Caribbean port call.

Last year, Jamaica allowed visa-free travel for vacationers from China as the island tries to develop new markets for its tourism industry.

Police have confirmed the death of Marcia Henville on Saturday. she passed away in an early morning fire at her home in St Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago. Her husband escaped with severe burns to his body.

Marcia Henville was a well known media personality, having hosted programs on both Radio and Television. She was also know for her acting roles both on the big screen and on stage and her involvement in the representation of the public in various national social issues.

(AP) Police in Jamaica say a French woman has been arrested at an island airport and charged with attempting to smuggle cocaine.

Jamaican born Kamara James, who represented Team USA at the 2004 Olympic Games in fencing, has passed away at the age of 29.

James passed away in Modesto, California. She was born in Kingston, Jamaica, before moving to Queens, New York, at the age of 10. She received a full scholarship to Princeton, where she graduated in 2007. James’ first Olympics was the 2004 Athens Games when she was 19. She won bronze at the Junior World Championships in 2003 and was a member of the Senior National Team since 16.
