Orvile “Shaggy” Burrell, will be honoured by the American Friends of Jamaica (AFJ) at the group’s seventh annual gala in South Florida in April. The event will be held on Saturday, April 9 at Jungle Island in Miami, where Shaggy will be presented with the 2011 International Humanitarian Award for his efforts in enhancing health care for children in Jamaica. Grammy Award-Winning Recording Artist, Actor and Reality Television Star, Bobby Brown is set to launch his first solo album, The Masterpiece in 15 years, this spring. Brown will perform his new single, Get Out The Way for the first time on network television, Monday, March 7th as the Musical Guest for ABC-TV’s The View. Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff will play at Gathering of the Vibes in Bridgeport Connecticut on Aug.1. This performance marks the beginning of Cliff’s most extensive North American tour in more than 20 years. Cliff recently was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has a new CD, “Existence,” his first CD of new material in six years, due out this year. He said songs on the CD touch all aspects of man’s existence, from global warming to starvation; and moving to love and hope.
Gyptian continues to sizzle this year as he now joins forces with the iconic Mary J. Blige. Gyptian will be breaking from his tour schedule to join the R&B queen on the England leg of her UK tour.
