Two gunmen are now holed up inside a fast-food restaurant at the intersection of West and Beckford streets in Downtown Kingston.
reporter on the scene said the incident started about 6:00 pm. Police say that two armed robbers ˜ barged though a side door of the restaurant moments before closing time and robbed three female staff members in the restaurant, the robbers then proceeded to asked for the supervisor.
The three staff members ran to a bathroom in the restaurant where they locked themselves in.
The three female hostages then somehow managed to escape from the building.
One member of staff is currently being held hostage by the gunmen.
Police and soldiers have swopped down on the area and have surrounded the building.
A tactical and negotiating team is now inside the building trying to neutralize the current stand off between the police and the two gunmen.
Police have asked members of the public to avoid the area.
Moments after the incident unfolded business owners within that area drew down their shutters.
