Teddy Pendergrass dies aged 59.

Teddy Pendergrass has died at the age of 59 following "a difficult
recovery" from colon cancer surgery.

Teddy Pendergrass II said his father had died at a hospital in Philadelphia.

He was paralysed from the waist down in a 1982 car accident. In 2001,
he went on his first tour since the accident.

Pendergrass enjoyed early success with Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes,
whose hits included If You Don't Know Me By Now, before going solo in 1976.

He was the first black male singer to record five consecutive multi-platinum
albums in the US...

men and a woman they say helped smuggle 12 high-powered weapons
and 700 rounds of ammunition from New York.

Police Inspector Jubert Llewellyn says the items arrived inside an air
compressor tank. He says a telescopic lens and 28 magazines were also
among the items seized at a warehouse Monday.

The guns - A .44 Magnum pistol, two AK 47 assault rifles, two 9mm
Desert Eagle pistols, a Mack 11 submachine gun, a Glock 27 pistol, 9mm

Haitians are lining bodies along the streets of Port-au-Prince, where
thousands are feared dead after a massive earthquake destroyed
much of the capital.

The 7.0 magnitude quake that struck Tuesday was the most powerful
to hit the Caribbean nation in 200 years.

The temblor collapsed the presidential palace, ministries, homes, schools,
monuments and the city's largest hospital.

The International Red Cross says up to 3 million people have been affected.

A powerful earthquake of 7.0 magnitude rocked Haiti just before
5 p.m. Eastern time, 10 miles southwest from the highly populated
capital of Port-au-Prince.

There were two aftershocks — of 5.5 and 5.9 magnitude — that
followed in the last hour, and more are expected to happen.

The city has about 2 million people, according to National Geographic.
According to several news reports, a large hospital in the capital had

being accused of attempted robbery and threatening to kill a bank
employee and her family.

Paul Martin Williams was previously accused of threatening to do an act

separate charges of threatening to kill a bank employee and her family by

last year, solidifying the island's reputation as having one of the world's
highest murder rates.

Police said the majority of the 1,680 killings - six more than the
previous record set in 2005 - involved victims of drug and extortion
gangs and occurred far from the island's trendy tourist spots, and
most were shootings.

Dutch Seize 2,400 Pounds Of Cocaine On Jamaican Ship.

pounds of cocaine from a Jamaican cargo ship. They say the drug,
which has a street value of more than 43-million dollars, was hidden
among containers of whiskey on the ship.

A special law enforcement team found the container last week in the
port of Rotterdam and arrested five men in Amsterdam where it was
delivered. The cocaine has been destroyed.
