VP Records recording artist Gyptian continues to rack up nominations this awards' season with his nomination for 'Best Reggae Artist' at this year's Soul Train Awards. The reggae singer will also be performing live at the awards ceremony, taking place on Wednesday, November 10 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia. Hosted by Oscar-nominated actors Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, the Soul Train Awards will premiere on both CENTRIC and BET on Sunday, November 28 at 9pm.

Alicia Keys Gives Birth to Baby Boy

On Thursday, October 14, 2010, singer Alicia Keys gave birth to a baby boy named Egypt Daoud Dean.

This is the first child for Alicia Keys and fourth child for her husband, Swizz Beatz, whose real name is Kaseem Dean. He has two other sons and a daughter from previous relationships.

The couple began dating in 2008 and recently got married in July. Keys, who is now 29, plans to expand her family.

Buju Banton Offered Bail

Buju Banton was offered bail at $250,000 at his court hearing today, Thursday, October 14, 2010.

However, his lawyer David Oscar Markus must now seek bond in immigration court in order to prevent Banton’s deportation to Jamaica, as his visa was revoked when he was arrested on December 10, 2009.

Bail conditions require Banton to wear an electronic monitoring device; he will also be subject to drug-testing, partial house arrest and 24-hour security; he may leave his house only for meetings with his attorney, to see his doctor, or to attend court.

PRIME Minister Bruce Golding has dismissed allegations by United States-based media entity Caribbean Voice that he is the holder of a US Alien Registration Card, more popularly known as a Green Card.

In a press release yesterday, Caribbean Voice — which said it is based in Brooklyn — alleged that Golding did not apply "to revoke his permanent residence before nomination day by filing form I-407, with his green card, at a US Embassy".

But yesterday Golding denied the claims, admitting "that he had applied for and obtained a green card as far back as 1978"...

(AP)Soul singer Solomon Burke, who wrote "Everybody Needs Somebody To Love" and recorded the hit "Cry To Me" used in the movie "Dirty Dancing," has died at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport. He was 70.

Airport police spokesman Robert van Kapel confirmed the death of the singer Sunday, and referred further questions to his management.

Buju Banton Bail Ruling Put On Hold For A Week

Buju Banton will have to wait a week longer to find out whether he'll get out on bail. The judge in the federal case, Anthony Porcelli, reserved judgment for a week in a hearing Wednesday in Tampa, Fla., saying he wanted to thoroughly review the arguments for and against bail.

The prosecution maintains that Buju Banton is a flight risk; the defense counters that his fame means he couldn't flee.

Nicole was a small tropical storm for just six hours on Wednesday, but the ragged storm system poured heavy rain onto Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, Cuba, south Florida and the Bahamas.

The death toll from Tropical Storm Nicole in Jamaica has risen to twelve following flash floods and mudslides triggered by the storm, officials say. At least eight others are missing, swept away by floodwaters.
