Delroy Wilson was one of Jamaica's most soulful vocalists, and over a 40-year career the singer unleashed a flood of hits and a multitude of masterpieces. (AP) Police in Jamaica say a U.S. tourist has been charged with illegal possession of ammunition after customs officials at an island airport allegedly found a bullet in her handbag. A Monday police statement says the American woman was about to board a flight when she was stopped by security at Sangster International Airport in the northern tourist town of Montego Bay. Police took her into custody and charged her with a breach of the island's firearms act after authorities say they found a 9-mm bullet in her bag. Authorities did not immediately disclose her identity or where she is from. Before her arrest, she was about to board a flight destined for Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The singer, who took the intimate shots herself on her mobile phone, claims hackers swiped them off her computer and leaked them onto the Internet. She wrote on twitter: "It seems that someone has hacked into my computer...that's real foul and evil... Toots Hibbert of the legendary reggae band Toots and the Maytals is suing his former manager for US$1.25 million dollars. The 70-year-old Toots Hibbert claims that he hired Marc-Antoine Chetata back in 1994 to manage Toots and the Maytals’ music and business affairs. Hibbert claims Chetata took advantage of the group lack of business knowledge. The lawsuit claims that Toots was fooled into signing an agreement which gave his former manager 50 per cent ownership of his songs. Toots Hibbert is asking for US$1.25 million in damages as well as full ownership of rights to his songs. Toots and the Maytals were a huge influence on ska, rock steady, reggae era. They recorded more than 30 albums since the early 1960s.
Six months after reggae group Maytals frontman, Frederick 'Toots' Hibbert, died from complications relating to the coronavirus (COVID-19), Toots and The Maytals won the 63rd Annual Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album with 'Got to be Tough' on Sunday March 14, 2021. Toots Hibbert who led The Maytals for over 55 years, died in Jamaica in September at age 77. The album Got to be Tough produced by Zak Starkey for his Trojan Jamaica label was released in August by Trojan BMG Records.
Legendary reggae artiste Tony Brevett from the Melodians died Saturday in Miami from complications during his cancer fight. Trevor McNaughton and Tony Brevett were on a U.S. tour commemorating The Melodians' 50th anniversary before Brevett fell ill. The Melodians were best known for their hit, "The Rivers of Babylon." The song was included in the soundtrack of the 1972 movie "The Harder They Come."

Last Night At "City Jam" held in Riverton City, Jamaica, Bounty Killer and Tommy Lee got into a small altercation. Reports are that while Tommy Lee was performing on stage a member of Bounty Killer's security crew went on stage and inform him that it was time for Bounty to perform. It was reported that Tommy Lee's then reply with "a wah do dem goat head ya". Bounty Killer and his entourage instantly rushed the stage. The wife of rapper TI, Tameka Cottle has been charged with drug possession. Tameka Cottle and TI were arrested on Los Angeles’ Sunset Strip last month. Now the LA County District Attorney has charged her with possessing the drug ecstasy. If convicted, Cottle could face up to a year behind bars. The District Attorney has decided not to prosecute TI, noting that the rapper will already be serving time in Georgia for a probation violation stemming from the LA arrest.
