"No matter weh nobody seh, a Gaza mi seh. If you don't like that go jump inna di gully," Bolt said over the microphone from the DJ's booth. Minutes later, when Vybz Kartel arrived at the party, he returned to the microphone to thank the deejay for coming. "Gaza fi life," he reiterated. Though the party was for both Bolt and Fraser, most of the attention was on the male sprinter. Fraser seemed missing in action for most of the party after Digicel gave the athletes exclusive phones that are not yet on the market. Fraser...
Dancehall artiste and producer Delly Ranx is aiming to take his career to new heights with his latest album Good Profile. Delly Ranx says that the album features some of his best works to date and he has great expectations. The album, produced by the California-based record label Itation Records, hit the shelves last Tuesday. The 18-track consists of mainly one-drop roots and culture-flavoured songs which show a different side of Delly, who is known for riding riddims with up-tempo dancehall beats. The album signals the coming of age of this artiste who, despite having enjoyed a fairly successful career as a deejay, has gained more prominence as a producer. Popular sound system selector Foota Hype has withdrawn his final string of attachment connecting him to his native community of Cassava Piece. The selector, who has spent most of his life in the community, which is located in St Andrew, painted out a mural of his name on a broken wall, as he no longer wished to be mentioned in anything relating to the area. In recent times, both Foota Hype and dancehall artiste Mavado have been at odds, and there have been reports in the media about violent attacks that could be related to the feud. The 21st century reincarnation of dancehall comedy could well rest on the shoulders of the Merital Family. And now that they have joined the Portmore Empire, inking a deal with the Adidjaheim Records label, all that’s left are the details. The Merital Family must 'buss' this year. The Merital Family consists of three youngbloods, Kenile, Blade and Corey. In 2005, the Merital Family began to make some noise with the minor dancehall hits, Frog Back, Everybody Dance, Love Dancing and arguably, what is considered the first Dutty Wine song. But now, the Merital Family has a new song My Money Ha Ha , a real belly-hugging gem of a song. The delivery of the song is especially suited for stage shows and their humorous rhymes will...

NEW YORK (AP): The MTV Video Music Awards kicked off yesterday with a poignant, tender tribute to fallen icon Michael Jackson, but soon got back into raucous character thanks to Kanye West, who delivered yet another awards show outburst at the expense of country and pop sweetheart Taylor Swift. West - who has flipped out after losing at the VMAs, the Grammys, the American Music Awards and others - complained once again that the wrong person had been awarded a trophy, but this time, it was on behalf of Beyonce. Beyonce, nominated for best female video for Single Ladies, was bested by Swift, the best-selling artiste of the year outside of Jackson. The 19-year-old was giddy when she won for her clip You Belong to Me, saying: "I...
