It appears that some of the employees at Flavor Flav’s Chicken restaurant are a bit upset with him.
According to the employees, their payroll checks have bounced and they are owed at three weeks of back pay. One of the employees stated that the bank wouldn’t even cash her check, which was only $150.
Flav, along with the co-owner of the restaurant, Nick Cimino opened this restaurant in Clinton, Iowa back in January 2011. Flav used his past experience in the restaurant industry and his culinary degree to develop the plan for the restaurant. His business partner, Cimino, also owns several other restaurants located in Las Vegas and Clinton as well.
Although the restaurant has been open since January, they just had their grand opening in April. Both Flav and Cimino stated during the grand opening that the employees were not telling the truth.
According to Flav, there was money in the restaurant’s bank account and the employees were simply jealous of him. Cimino also stated that he recently had to fire over 20 employees and they were just trying to get back at him and Flav.
However, it does appear that the employees were actually telling the truth. A few day after the grand opening, Flav later came back and admitted that the checks did bounce due to insufficient funds in their bank account. He also stated that the insufficient funds were caused by a broken credit card machine that failed to make the proper deposits into their bank account.
At this time, the problem has been corrected and all of the employees have been paid in full.
Currently, Flav is making plans to expand his restaurant into other cities such as Cedar Rapids, Detroit, and New York City. He is also trying to create another reality television show about him going back to high school to get a high school diploma. He currently has only a GED.
