The Jamaican reggae music was inscribed on the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by a specialized commission of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) yesterday.

UNESCO highlighted "the contribution" of this music genre to international awareness "on issues of injustice, resistance, love and humanity" thanks to artists such as Bob Marley, according to a statement released after the meeting in Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius.
