Jamaican Police Shot And Killed Pregnant Female In St Thomas

A pregnant Female was shot and killed by a Jamaican Police Officer in Yallahs, St. Thomas sat September 02,2012, has been identified as 25-yr-old Kayann Lamont. Her sister was also shot and has been hospitalized.

The police officer overheard indecent language coming from Kayann, while writing a speeding ticket for a motorist in the Yallahs Square. The officer warned the Kayann that she would be arrested and charged for the indecent language. The officer attempted to arrest kayann and take her to the police station.

A struggle ensued between the officer and Kayann which resulted in her falling on the ground. The Kayann's sister seeing her pregnant sister falling to the ground then ran to her aid. The officer then pulled his weapon and opened fire on the sisters, killing one on the spot, while the other was rushed to hospital.

Vendors in the area also claimed that the officer then shot the pregnant woman in the back of her head as she laid on the floor.

The Policeman who is accused of the fatal shooting of Kayann Lamont and the injuring of her sister in Yallahs, St. Thomas is now in custody and has been taken off front-line duty as investigations continue into the incident. The family of the Police Officer has been placed under police protection following death threats.
