An unknown assailant released pepper spray at a recent Buju Banton concert in San Francisco. The incident happened at the city’s Rock It Room music venue earlier this week, and sent fans into a frenzy.
Outside the venue, gay rights protesters had earlier been protesting against the show, as Buju has long been a target of protesters who allege the deejay incites homophobia. But despite the controversy and the pepper spray, the show went on. "Don't know who the culprit was,but clearly it was someone trying to ruin the show," said Buju’s manager Tracii McGregor, of the pepper spraying. "It was a hairy moment for the band, but it was fine. Nobody panicked, which made all the difference."
