ReggaeMe - Amsterdam - Dutch authorities have seized 24-hundred
pounds of cocaine from a Jamaican cargo ship. They say the drug,
which has a street value of more than 43-million dollars, was hidden
among containers of whiskey on the ship.
A special law enforcement team found the container last week in the
port of Rotterdam and arrested five men in Amsterdam where it was
delivered. The cocaine has been destroyed.
Jamaica is on a U.S. list of 20 countries identified as major production
or distribution centers for illegal drugs. The Justice Department says
Jamaica is a "significant trans-shipment point" for cocaine headed to
both the U.S. and Europe.
