How do you feel about 45 in clashes?

Nothing wrong with 45s in clashes...Traditionally 45s were part and parcel of sound system culture...its musical war so its all about who can move the crowd with music...last time I checked 45s is still music

I totally agreed with you. plus it allow people to enjoy themselves too

45's is so unique in sound system culture besides being used in clashes if you have a version on the vinyl you can encourage the youths to dub. That is how artists were born in the reggae music,
by dubbing on 45 records. The sound clashes nowadays don't have the vibrancy as long ago despite the fact you have good music coming out everyday. Man I am praying one day to win a lotto
and re-open a vinyl recording company so artist can still put a dub-plate on a 45 for a sound system instead of computer. Do you know that Technics have doubled the price of their 1200 turntables because of no sales for them. If I have to play in a sound-clash I want some of them new tunes on 45 and me 1200 tables.

Seems like you are a purist lol....Now I wasnt talking about vinyl...I'm using the term 45 as in the commercial release of a record...and not the 7inch 45 played on a turntable....Mark may need to explain what he meant by "45"...to me the format in which tunes are played is irrelevant cos music is music...if you are looking for the sound played back in the 80's and 90's then you may be dissapointed cos the way reggae music is produced nowadays if solely for radio play.....the music produced back in them times were made to be played on a sound system...Most of the producers had sound systems and sampled the tunes on acetate on these sounds....Bass was vibrant and the percussion would ring from the speakers...basically the production was made to move BIG speakers...thats not the case anymore....so even if you did put the modern tunes on vinyl you wouldnt get that feel you are use to from back in the day....but hey!!...you can still dream right? lol

BY THE WAY WHAT DEM A CALL SOUND CLASH IS RECORD CLASH. SOUND CLASH USED TO BE WHEN A SOUND SYSTEMS CLASH WITH EACH OTHER AND THE DJ'S PLAYING THEIR 45'S GIVING THEM OTHER SYSTEM CHAT THEIR SOUND DOH HEAVY OR SOUND LIKE THEIRS.

I WOULD LIKE TO HOLD A SOUND CLASH WHERE YOU HAVE REAL SOUND SYSTEM SAY 8 BASS BOX LIMIT AND DUPLATE TO GO WITH IT.

Well thats has nothing to do with this post....I'm sure Mark started this thread in relation to the 45's (commercially released tunes) that were played at World Clash Reset 2013.....7inch 45's or 12inch 45's were not played...cheers

I don't think the young generation would enjoy dj's singing on the mic all night long now

Thats true a lot of new sounds only have mp3 dubs and a laptop. Do you think that style of dancehall can comeback though?

To be honest no cos the culture has changed....you don't need to be endorsed by a sound to buss....the internet is there...Back in the day you needed to buss the dancehall before you can even touch a studio

I think 45s should be limited to one round! ive been playing dub plates from the days of big record boxes sound systems charge promoters good money so they should show case the reason for that price plus it sends more money across the industry (studios make money)

what about old school where you can play 45 or pre-release at anytime?
