(AP) A former Northern Ireland police ombudsman says Jamaican security forces must significantly curb fatal shootings of civilians if they want islanders to trust them. Nuala O'Loan says there is, in her words, an "unparalleled level of police shootings in Jamaica." The former Northern Ireland investigator says she has never seen "police fatal shootings in the way I have seen them here." She says there were 147 fatal shootings by Jamaican police between January and June of this year. In 2012, Jamaican security forces killed 219 people, nine more than in 2011. Human rights activists have repeatedly criticized the number of shootings by Jamaica's police. A commission that investigates allegations of abuse by Jamaican forces released a...

According to OddGrooves' chief drummer Magnus Brandell the goal with the Reggae Pack was to "get into the soul" of the reggae drummers of the 70's. Burning Spear, Peter Tosh and The Wailers served as major sources of inspiration when recording the loops. OddGrooves CEO/producer Per Ulfhielm says: Reggae Drumming features: - 247 reggae drum loops, predominantly roots reggae, but also reggae pop such as The Police and loops inspired by Frank Zappa's classic reggae variations. - Recorded in a total of 10 tempos - All drum loops are...
Jamaica's justice minister has signed an order to expunge some marijuana-related convictions now that the island has partially decriminalized small amounts of pot. Justice Minister Mark Golding stated that he had signed an order to provide a path for people to get their criminal records purged if they have minor convictions for smoking or possessing marijuana. In April, drug law amendments went into effect that partially decriminalized small amounts of pot and paved the way for a lawful medical marijuana sector in Jamaica.

However, it was confirmed by a member of the Queen Hill community, who said the men drove a white car and were armed with a gun and a knife.
A question to all men: Would you remove your wife’s or girlfriend’s underwear from the clothesline or from the washer or dryer? I have asked this question quite a few times before and I never failed to get the same answer. As I finished typing the previous sentence, I decided to ask this question once more, in a desperate attempt to find a man who would do for his wife or girlfriend the same thing she usually does for him without giving it a thought. I asked the interviewee, “Would you take your girlfriend’s panties out of the washer for her?” To my surprise, he answered “Yes.” Finally! So then my second question to him was, “Would you take them off the clothesline outside?” He quickly responded with, “If the bush fence...

Buju Banton is breathing a sigh of relief after a Federal Judge dismissed his gun charge last week, which would have attach an additional five years to his sentance. Judge James Moody also dismissed the reggae artiste application for a new trial on the grounds that the juror misconduct was not enough. On June 26, 2013 Judge James Moody handed down a ruling holding juror Teri Wright in contempt after she admitted to a Florida journalist that she researched aspects of the case during the high profile trial. However, that was not enough for Judge James Moody to grant Buju Banton a new trial.
