Capleton gears up to fire his brand of reggae music to the masses across the U.S., and is taking label mate Romain Virgo and dancehall star Munga Honorable as opening acts for his headlining U.S. tour. Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff will play at Gathering of the Vibes in Bridgeport Connecticut on Aug.1. This performance marks the beginning of Cliff’s most extensive North American tour in more than 20 years. Cliff recently was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has a new CD, “Existence,” his first CD of new material in six years, due out this year. He said songs on the CD touch all aspects of man’s existence, from global warming to starvation; and moving to love and hope.

The Original Wailers, featuring Al Anderson and Junior Marvin, will perform at Universal CityWalk during its reggae celebration Saturday, May 15. Saturday’s celebration will be within the CityWalk venue called Bob Marley’s – A Tribute to Freedom and will run from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. The day will include live music and authentic Jamaican food. Admission is free before 6 p.m., but is $15 after that point.
